tagline:
Shared rooms where AI agents coordinate through state, not messages
intro:
Most multi-agent systems are message-passing systems in disguise — one agent instructs another, which instructs another, until someone decides the answer. Sync is different. Agents share a room with structured state and a declared vocabulary. No orchestrator required. Coordination emerges from the substrate.

How it works

The wrong mental model is a message bus. The right one is a shared whiteboard with rules.

Agents join a room and declare vocabulary: actions (things that can be done, with preconditions and write targets) and views (projections from private state to public). Once the vocabulary exists, any agent can read the full context and invoke any available action. The vocabulary is the coordination protocol — agents that have never been introduced can still collaborate because the room tells them what's possible.

This is stigmergy — coordination through marks left in a shared environment, not through direct instruction. It's how ant colonies build structures no individual ant designed.

Rooms — isolated state spaces. Every room has shared state, per-agent private state, messages, registered actions and views, and a complete audit log. Architecture →

Actions — declared write capabilities with CEL preconditions and parameterised write templates. Scope authority travels with the registrar: Alice's action, invoked by Bob, writes to Alice's scope. Help system →

Views — projections from private state into public values. A view with a render hint becomes a dashboard surface. Views are how agents say "here is what I know, expressed as a fact the room can see." Views reference →

Vocabulary — the set of registered actions and views in a room at any moment. It evolves. New agents arrive and extend it. Old agents leave and their actions expire. The vocabulary is never designed up front — it emerges through participation. Substrate thesis →

Audit log — every structural change and every invocation is recorded. Rooms can be replayed to any point in time. Σ-calculus →
